Four-star Wide Receiver Jerquaden Guilford commits to Ohio State

Brian Hartline strikes again as the Buckeyes have added another highly touted wide receiver to their 2026 recruiting class in Fort Wayne (IN) Northrop star Jerquaden Guilford.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect chose the Buckeyes on Friday evening over Ole Miss, Michigan, and others, to become commitment No. 21 in Ohio State’s 2026 recruiting class and the fifth wide receiver of the cycle to give a pledge to the Buckeyes.

What Ohio State is Getting in Jerquaden Guilford

Guilford has been scouted heavily by Ohio State in recent months, camping with the Buckeyes and also working out in front of head coach Ryan Day at the Under Armour Ohio camp where Day was present watching his son compete.

So there’s no question that Hartline, Day, and the rest of the Ohio State offensive braintrust is completely sold on Guilford as a high end talent or they wouldn’t be adding another receiver to this class.

At 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Guilford is a big-bodied receiver with the ability to get vertical. But he’s more than a one-trick pony, he is physical enough to play in the slot and has enough wiggle to his game to be dynamic in the return game.

In an offense that loves to cross-train its receivers to be able to line up anywhere, Guilford’s size and versatility feels like a perfect fit.

Guilford’s passion for Ohio State is also evident in how he talked about the Buckeyes during his recruiting process and his willingness to camp just a few days before his official visit back in June.

This is a high end talent with high end character and a high end compete level.

Jerquaden Guilford was a standout at an Ohio State one camp in June.

What it Means for Recruiting

Ohio State is certainly done adding to its receiver haul in the 2026 class and will now put its focus on retention and getting a head start on the 2027 and 2028 classes respectively, where Hartline is already big game hunting.

Holding an early verbal from Ohio five-star Jamier Brown in 2027 gives Brian Hartline and Co. even more leverage in hand-selecting the next group of Ohio State wide receivers.

Some early targets in 2027 to keep in mind include; Monshun Sales out of Lawrence North in Indianapolis, Michigan star Dakota Guerrant, and Texas speedster Tay Ellis, among others.
