Ohio State’s roster remains in a state of constant movement and that movement is seeing second-year wide receiver Kaleb Brown leaving the Buckeyes. The Chicago native was a top-100 player coming out of Ohio as part of the Buckeyes class of 2022.
The 5-foot-10, 197-pounder did not see any action at wide receiver as the Buckeyes were log-jammed at wide receiver last year with players like Marvin Harrison, Emeka Egbuka and Julian Fleming. With the departure of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, there has been a tremendous battle to find reps as the Ohio State receiver room remains in a state of flux.
Brown was the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Illinois coming out of high school and was rated as the No. 8 wide receiver in the nation according to one of the services.
Many people felt that Brown could be in the mix at the slot position where he would have to find a way to get reps away from Egbuka and Xavier Johnson, but with Brandon Inniss and Bryson Rodgers both looking for playing time, nothing was going to be easy on that front.
Brown joins fellow receiver Caleb Burton as members of the class of 2022 to hit the portal.
Brown will have four years to play four years after redshirting in 2022.
Ohio State has added players from the portal including Josh Simmons, Davison Igbinosun, Ja’had Carter, Victor Cutler and Lorenzo Styles Jr.
Sunday marks the final day that non-graduate transfers can enter the portal.
