Chris Henry, Jr. Building Relationships With Schools, Working On Game

As a 2026 prospect who is just wrapping up his freshman year of high school, Cincinnati Withrow wide receiver Chris Henry, Jr. hasn’t yet found his name in the recruiting industry’s rankings. That’s not because he’s under the radar, but rather because there are no 2026 rankings yet.

Of course, when it comes to Chris Henry, Jr., recruiting rankings aren’t all that necessary. The son of former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry, the younger Henry is already quite well known, and he just happens to be listed at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds while moving like a much smaller and quicker receiver.

When the initial 2026 rankings do get released, Henry’s name is expected to be near the top, especially since he continues to spend the offseason working on his game.

Last weekend, Henry was at the Under Armour Next camp in Obetz, Ohio, showcasing his abilities against 2024 and 2025 defensive backs. He stood out wherever he went, and he has already seen improvement from last season.

“I think right now I’m stronger and faster and more intelligent and smarter at the game,” Henry told Buckeye Huddle.

Even though Chris Henry, Jr. is an Ohio prospect, he’s already a national recruit. This spring he has been to Ohio State, Georgia, and Tennessee.

How did the Ohio State visit go?

“I would say it was great. It’s obviously great being over there,” Henry said. “I like how they’re very consistent, and all their players go hard every play, every rep.”

His main points of contact at OSU have been receivers coach and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, along with assistant receivers coach (and former Buckeye receiver) Devin Jordan, and head coach Ryan Day.

“(Hartline’s) just telling me that he likes me a lot,” Henry said. “He really wants me to go there, and our relationship is great. Me and coach Day and coach Hartline and coach Jordan, we’re all close.”

What caught Henry’s eye about his trip to Georgia?

“What stood out to me at Georgia is their size, their talent. It’s really, really great,” he said. “And they also go very hard, so it was nice to see that too.”

Tennessee has also become an intriguing destination for offensive skill players of late. What are they doing well in Henry’s mind?

“I like their concepts,” he said. “The receivers coach, coach (Kelsey) Pope, I’m cool with him.”

Chris Henry, Jr. expects to get back up to Ohio State next month, likely at one of OSU’s one-day camps. All eyes will no doubt be on him as he again looks to improve his game against some of the nation’s best.

Henry is also “probably” going to visit Alabama and Georgia this summer, and “maybe” USC, who offered two weeks ago.
