Buckeyes still in contact with Top 100 offensive tackle Jordan Seaton

BRADENTON, Fla. — Ohio State is still looking to add at least one big piece to its 2024 offensive line haul. While much of the recent discussion has been centered around the likes of Brandon Baker and Guerby Lambert, the Buckeyes also remain in contact with IMG Academy (FL) star Jordan Seaton.

“Me and coach (Justin) Frye, the relationship has been there,” Seaton told BuckeyeHuddle.com on Wednesday night after IMG’s spring scrimmage. “People have been thinking different, but Ohio State is still a high contender.”

Seaton describes his conversations with Frye as ‘real’.

“We talk as much as we can,” Seaton said. “So maybe a couple of times each week. Those talks mean a lot to me because it’s not like some bot text or some (generic) graphic. It’s real conversations with the real staff and that’s what I like.”

With IMG’s spring practice period all wrapped up, Seaton will turn his attention toward putting together a visit schedule.

“I’ll probably take a couple of officials in June, maybe two,” Seaton explained. “I don’t have the schools for those officials yet, that will probably be coming out in the next week or two. Then I will probably take some more later on in the fall.”

Will Ohio State get one of those coveted official visits?

“For sure,” he stated.

An official to Columbus would likely be one of Seaton’s fall visits. Alabama and LSU were tossed out as potential June visit destinations but that has yet to be finalized by the Seaton camp.

With Ohio State, the Buckeyes just sent Paris Johnson to the NFL as a Top 10 draft pick and that has been something that has resonated with Seaton. The Buckeyes also had defensive line coach Larry Johnson and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline in attendance at IMG on Wednesday night to observe Seaton and IMG defensive tackle Jayden Jackson among other prospects.

“I know Paris Johnson and his family so to see him develop into a first rounder, he was a highly rated recruit just like me, so that’s great to see,” Seaton said. “People have been saying they are out of the hunt or they’re in the hunt (in Seaton’s recruitment), I want to say they are doing just fine.”

Another program that has caught Seaton’s attention is Georgia. The Dawgs sent offensive line coach Stacy Searels to IMG’s scrimmage on Wednesday.

“Something about Georgia that stands out is the hard work and the effort that they put in,” he said. “Coming over here to IMG, they strive to be the best and they do the same thing at UGA.”

Seaton is looking at making a decision later in the process either toward the end of his senior football season or just after it.
