Ohio State is continuing to do work with its recruiting class of 2025 as the Buckeyes are now up to three players with the commitment of cornerback Blake Woodby.
The four-star corner is out of Baltimore (Md.) powerhouse St. Frances Academy. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder held more than 20 offers, including one from Ohio State. Woodby was just on Ohio State’s campus last weekend for the Buckeye’s 37-17 win over Maryland.
Alabama, Clemson, Oregon and Tennessee were believed to be the other finalists for Woodby’s commitment.
Woodby ranks in the 247Sports Composite top-100 and is one of the nation’s top cornerback prospects. Playing at St. Frances, there is no doubt that the new Ohio State pledge is tested every day at practice and with the tough schedule that St. Frances puts together on a yearly basis.
The Buckeyes will now have to play defense here as other top programs will not ignore Woodby until signing day. It is just how modern recruiting is and the Buckeyes know it will still be a fight to hold on to this one until pen meets paper in close to 14 months (to early-NSD 2024).
Woodby joins quarterback Tavien St. Clair and wide receiver Jayvan Boggs in Ohio State’s growing class of 2023.
The addition of Woodby will give Ohio State a deep cornerback room with the Buckeyes adding Jermaine Matthews (signed), Calvin Simpson-Hunt (signed), Miles Lockhart (committed), Aaron Scott (committed) and Bryce West (committed) over the last two recruiting cycles.
Keep it locked in here as we will have more on this latest addition to the Ohio State recruiting efforts.
