Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline continues to work his magic on the recruiting trail. Hartline is about to wrap up his second straight receivers class that will rank as the top group in the nation and he is already turning his attention to the 2025 and 2026 classes.
The Buckeyes recently grabbed a commitment from an outstanding Florida receiver in Cocoa star Jayvan Boggs, and the Buckeyes have their sights on another Florida star in Cardinal Newman product Naeshaun Montgomery.
Montgomery made his first visit to Ohio State on Saturday and the four-star prospect came away extremely impressed with everything he saw in Columbus.
“The game was so electric,” Montgomery told BuckeyeHuddle.com on Saturday.
The timing of a huge game from Marvin Harrison Jr. couldn’t have been better for the Buckeyes who showed Montgomery that they like to feed their star receivers.
“I was focused on how they were going to use Marvin with (Emeka Egbuka) out,” Montgomery recalled. “And they did a great job. It was amazing. I couldn’t have picked a better game. Today was all about Marvin.”
Montgomery told Buckeye Huddle over the summer that Hartline was perhaps his best relationship so far on the recruiting trail. After several months have passed and the contact window opening for the 2025 class, is that still the case?
“Yes sir,” he stated. “(Hartline) is so straightforward. He tells me if I want to make my dreams come true that Ohio State is where I need to be.”
Montgomery has no shortage of recruiting interest. A composite Top 100 prospect, he has offers from coast-to-coast, including USC, Colorado, Texas A&M, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and many, many more. But Ohio State has made a strong early impression.
“Definitely one of the top schools,” he added.
