Big-time offensive tackle Micah Smith talks recent Ohio State visit

One of the headliners of the big Ohio State visitor group last weekend was class of 2026 offensive tackle Micah Smith. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound prospect out of Vero Beach (FL) is an early Top 100 prospect in the sophomore class. The big-time tackle was blown away by the environment in Columbus.

“I loved it,” Smith said. “The atmosphere was amazing, like no other.”

Smith had previously made a stop in Columbus for a summer camp but was able to stay overnight last weekend to head back to campus for another close look on Sunday. That short Sunday trip allowed Smith to continue to build his relationship with Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye.

“The conversations went great,” he stated. “We got to know each other better and obviously talked about some OL stuff. My relationship with coach Frye is amazing he’s one of the best coaches I’ve camped with and gotten coached by.”

Smith had a flight to catch but was still able to get a look at the facility and some of the history around the Ohio State program.

“I was in a rush so I didn’t get to enjoy the tour like I would’ve but I still had a good time,” he continued. “What stood out to me was the long hallway with all the achievements of former buckeyes.”

The big lineman has always been fond of Ohio State. With the NCAA College Football game returning to consoles next summer, it’s ironic that it was the last edition of the series that actually started Smith’s interest in the Buckeyes.

“Well my father used to play with Ohio State on NCAA 14 College Football and I used to love watching him play with them,” Smith recalled. “And then it translated over to TV and they grew on me. Now since they offered they were automatically one of my top schools and me and my family love to get up here every chance we get. The program is just great. My family knows which schools I am highly interested in and we like to get a good feel for them over the years before I make that final decision.”

Smith isn’t exactly sure when his next visit to Ohio State will take place. A winter or spring visit isn’t out of the question, but he knows it won’t be too long either way.

“I don’t know for sure, but I’ll be back at camp in the summer,” he added.
