Ohio State refers to their secondary as “Best In America,” and they made a move to continue that moniker with the signing of four-star cornerback Bryce West.
West (5-11 177) comes to Ohio State from the familiar pipeline of Glenville High School, where he was ranked the No. 4 cornerback in the nation and No. 58 player overall per the 247Sports Composite. They also rank West as the No. 2 player in Ohio.
West was a key cog in Glenville’s second-consecutive state championship. Due to his athleticism, he has played all over the secondary for the Tarblooders, but West has told Buckeye Huddle he will begin his career playing cornerback and possibly some nickel back for Ohio State.
The Buckeyes landed a commitment from West on June 24 of this year. He took official visits to Ohio State, Michigan, and USC, while also holding offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, and others.
West is expected to be enrolling at Ohio State next month.
Below, Buckeye Huddle reflects on Bryce West’s recruitment, discusses what he will bring to the Ohio State defense, and takes a look at some film as well.
