Less than 48 hours from the end of the Ohio State season and another Buckeye has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Rolesville (N.C.) wide receiver Noah Rogers has entered the portal after one season with the Buckeyes, the second member of the wide receiver class of 2023 to make the move, joining Bryson Rodgers.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder was a consensus four-star prospect coming out of Rolesville high school and picked the Buckeyes over NC State among others. He was part of Ohio State’s four-man class that also included Brandon Inniss and Carnell Tate.
Rogers saw limited action, playing in four games for the Buckeyes with five or fewer snaps in the Indiana, Western Kentucky, Purdue and Michigan State games according to Pro Football Focus.
Ohio State’s wide receiver room was a crowded one and looks to remain crowded even with Marvin Harrison Jr. yet to make his anticipated announcement to leave for the NFL.
The Buckeyes signed a two-man class just two weeks ago with Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham, both five-star receivers in their own right. There are still a few younger receivers who may have decisions of their own to make after being in the program for a couple of seasons with limited action of their own, but would it be enough for Ohio State to look to the portal for its own numbers?
That is a question that would have to be sorted out in the coming days, as unlikely as it could be.
It is expected that Rogers will end up close to home at NC State where he would have four years to play four years with 2023 qualifying as a redshirt season.
