It is never too early to look ahead to the coming college football season, especially for the oddsmakers.
Sportsbetting.ag has released lines for 10 major college football games this season, including a pair involving the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Given the attention that the Buckeyes have received in the offseason, it might come as a bit of a surprise that they have opened as a slight underdog for their October 12 road trip to Oregon. The Ducks are currently a 1.5-point favorite against Ohio State.
The Buckeyes, meanwhile, have been installed as a 6.5-point favorites over Michigan. Ohio State will host the Wolverines November 30 and will be looking to snap what is currently a three-game losing streak to Michigan.
When the Buckeyes travel to Eugene, Oregon to take on the Ducks, it will be the sixth meeting between the two programs in the past 50 years. Oregon has been favored twice in those games — once in a 26-17 Rose Bowl loss to the Buckeyes in 2010, and then again in a 42-20 College Football Playoff National Championship Game loss to OSU to cap the 2014 season.
Oregon was favored by 4 points in the Rose Bowl and 6.5 points in the national championship game.
The last time these two teams met, however, the Ducks came away with a 35-28 win in Ohio Stadium in 2021. It was quarterback CJ Stroud’s second career start. The Buckeyes were favored by 14.5 points.
The last time Michigan was favored in Ohio Stadium was 2018 (-4.5), which Ohio State won 62-39. The Buckeyes were 8-point favorites over the Wolverines in 2022, which ended in a 45-23 win for Michigan.
Ohio State was favored by 29.5 points against Michigan in 2020. The Wolverines opted out of that contest in the days leading up to kickoff.
