Safety Faheem Delane Latest Buckeye Defensive Commit

Chalk up another win for the Ohio State recruiting effort with Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri landing yet another blue-chip defensive back, this time Faheem Delane out of Olney (Md.).

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound safety had his pick of schools nationally but opted for the Buckeyes and bolstering a defensive back class that is already borderline ridiculous in its depth and talent. The Good Counsel high school star is the third safety in the class for the Buckeyes.

Delane’s older brother, Mansoor, plays football at Virginia Tech.

There are now five defensive backs in Ohio State’s class with five-star prospects Devin Sanchez, Na’eem Offord checking in as cornerbacks.

This is the highest-rated safety commit for the Buckeyes since Sonny Styles reclassified and signed with Ohio State’s class of 2022.

The Buckeyes will be getting an extremely physical safety with Delane to employ in the Jim Knowles nickel scheme. In high school, Delane has played both slot corner and an in the box safety and will give the Buckeyes a lot of in-game versatility while keeping a player who can lay the lumber out on the field.

The Buckeyes will continue to press defensive backs including Trey McNutt and Dorian Brew as the class rounds into shape. There is no denying that this may be Ohio State’s most talented haul in the defensive backfield in recent memory and there does not appear to be any sort of end in sight.

Be sure to keep it locked in here to BuckeyeHuddle.com for all the latest on this breaking new including what this move means for the Buckeyes and how it may make some decisions that much more complicated for the Buckeyes as they try and determine what the next wave of the defensive backfield will look like moving forward.
