The Dead Period is about to come to an end and Ohio State will see a slew of prospects come through campus during March and April, including many of its most important recruits in the 2025 class.
With a big recruiting push about to begin, now is a good time to take a look at the five most important remaining recruiting targets for the Buckeyes on the offensive side of the ball in the 2025 cycle.
Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei running back Jordon Davison
Ohio State has plenty of good options at running back in the 2025 class as the Buckeyes will almost certainly need to take a pair. But Davison is the guy the Buckeyes have clearly made their top priority and he has yet another multi-day unofficial visit to Columbus coming up at the end of March.
With Quinshon Judkins and Trey Henderson very likely off to the NFL after the 2024 season, the Buckeyes need a back that will be able to come in and be part of the rotation. Davison is exactly that type of back as the Buckeyes try to break the Mater Dei Curse.
Right now Ohio State and Texas look to be out in front of the rest of the pack that includes Oregon, Alabama, and many others.
Mobile (AL) Vigor offensive tackle Micah DeBose
DeBose is originally from Cleveland and that has been the genesis of his interest in Ohio State. However, DeBose’s list most certainly looks like that of a player from the Deep South. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and LSU are the top competition for Ohio State and the Buckeyes will get an official visit giving them a puncher’s chance here.
This is the type of big out-of-state offensive tackle recruit the Buckeyes haven’t been able to secure recently.
Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench
Ffrench might not have made this list a couple of months ago when he was considered more of a luxury add given his commitment to Alabama at the time. Then Nick Saban retired, and since that point the Buckeyes have become the betting favorite to land the five-star prospect.
Brian Hartline is setup nicely to sign another tremendous group of receivers and Ffrench is the best player on the board.
Franklin (MI) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach
Ohio State’s list of realistic out-of-state options right now isn’t particularly long, but Gach is a player that the Buckeyes likely reside in the top two for at the moment. Ohio State has made Gach a major priority and he is close with recent OL pledge Carter Lowe.
However, this is shaping up to be a battle with Michigan and despite the Wolverines’ revolving door of coaches in recent weeks, Gach’s guy has been new head coach Sherrone Moore which helps the Wolverines navigate this one as the Buckeyes make a big push.
Washington (OK) tight end Nate Roberts
In what should be a two tight end class again for the Buckeyes, there is no doubt that assistant Keenan Bailey has made Roberts his top target. The Buckeyes are set to get their third unofficial visit from Roberts in the past six months when he heads back to Columbus for the spring game in April.
Oklahoma is likely the top competition here but Ohio State has put a ton of time and effort into recruiting Roberts so it would be a bit of a disappointment if the Buckeyes weren’t able to close the deal here.
