Australian Punter Nick McLarty Commits to Ohio State

Ohio State made a late addition to its 2024 recruiting class on Friday morning, landing 6-foot-7, 255-pound Australian punter Nick McLarty. McLarty had spent the last few days in Columbus visiting Ohio State and checking out the Buckeyes’ first two practices.

“After conversations with coaches Ryan Day and Rob Keys, it felt like home,” McLarty told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “The respect towards specialists and emphasis on the role of a punter, I couldn’t be happier.”

McLarty, a 20-year old from Melbourne, Australia will enroll in this summer and be part of the Ohio State punting competition in fall camp.

McLarty was supposed to make at least one more visit during his time in the United States but has instead decided to end his recruiting process and roll with Ohio State.

He’ll join fellow Australian Joe McGuire and Wayne State transfer Hadi Jawad in the Ohio State punter mix this fall.
