The Ohio State Men’s Basketball program dipped into the transfer portal on Tuesday evening to bring home guard Meechie Johnson who spent a couple of seasons at South Carolina after leaving Ohio State.
Could the Buckeyes try and bring home another native son?
Shortly after the Johnson news broke, word came out that USC freshman guard Bronny James was entering the portal. James is of course the son of future Hall of Famer Lebron James and spent most of his childhood in Northeast Ohio before moving to California when his father signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James played in 25 games for the Trojans as a true freshman, averaging 4.8 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game on 36.6% shooting in just under 20 minutes per contest.
SMU is expected to be heavily involved with James after the Mustangs hired USC head coach Andy Enfield. It is not yet known if Ohio State will try to get involved.
It’s also worth noting that James’ younger brother, Bryce, is a class of 2025 high school recruit with an offer from the Buckeyes.
BuckeyeHuddle.com will keep a close eye on this situation to see if there are any developments between James and the Buckeyes.
