The Buckeyes are back on the board on the offensive side of the ball with the commitment of Washington (Okla.) tight end Nate Roberts. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is a consensus four-star recruit and picked the Buckeyes over Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Penn State.
Roberts visited Ohio State the weekend of April 6th, moving up a planned unofficial visit by a week and it is obvious why he made that move.
The new Ohio State commit had planned on taking official visits before making a decision but apparently Ohio State showed the talented tight end enough to come to a conclusion with his recruitment and make a pledge.
Roberts will enter a tight end room at Ohio State that will see both Gee Scott Jr. and Will Kacmarek coming close to the end of their college eligibility. That will leave younger players like Bennett Christian, Jelani Thurman, Damarion Witten and Max LeBlanc left in the room moving forward in 2025 and beyond.
The Oklahoma tight end was named a MaxPreps second-team Junior All-American in 2023 after hauling in 38 receptions for 816 yards and eight touchdowns as he led his high school team to back-to-back state championships. 2022 saw Roberts put up 33 receptions for 705 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Needless to say, he is a skilled offensive weapon but also has the size to be a force in the Big Ten. He may not be the biggest tight end in the conference, but the numbers don’t lie.
Ohio State is looking to potentially sign two tight ends in this class and all eyes are on players like Brock Schott and others as Keenan Bailey and the Ohio State staff look to hit their number.
Keep it locked in here to BuckeyeHuddle for more on this breaking news as Ohio State’s recruiting stays hot.
