After initially announcing that he would return to Ohio State for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season, Felix Okpara has changed his plans and is entering the transfer portal instead, according to a report from Adam Jardy of the Columbus Dispatch.
Okpara had previously issued a statement on April 1 that “I am excited and grateful to announce I am 100% committed to running it back with OSU and Buckeye Nation!”
However, after that announcement, Ohio State added another center through the transfer portal, Aaron Bradshaw, who had previously played at Kentucky.
Okpara averaged 6.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in just over 23 minutes of action per game in the 2023-24 season.
His departure means the Buckeyes will have to replace four of their five leading scorers in the first full season of Jake Diebler’s tenure.
Zed Key has already announced that he is transferring to Dayton, while Roddy Gayle is still in the portal, and Jamison Battle exhausted his eligibility.
The Buckeyes have also added three players through the portal already this offseason, including Bradshaw, Micah Parrish, and Meechie Johnson.
