Ohio State linebacker Steele Chambers has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Detroit Lions.
Chambers was a three-year starter for the Buckeyes at Will linebacker. He led the team with 83 tackles last season as a fifth-year senior.
Chambers finished his OSU career with 207 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, and four interceptions. He began his career at running backs, spending his first two years on offense. He rushed for 221 yards in his career, averaging 7.9 yards per carry and scoring once.
Chambers made the move from running back to linebacker prior to the 2021 season and quickly began making his mark as a playmaking defender. He eventually started the final four games of the season, and then all but one other game the rest of his career thereafter.
The Buckeyes signed Chambers out of Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia where he rushed for over 4,000 yards and was an All-State linebacker. He was Georgia’s 2017 7AAAA Player of the Year in helping lead his team to a state title.
