INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive end JT Tuimoloau, and safety Caleb Downs have been named to the Big Ten’s twelve-player Preseason Honors list.
The list is voted on by conference media as part of the annual Big Ten Media Days and is meant to recognize the conference’s 12 most-outstanding players. There are no preseason all-conference teams or votes for conference favorites released by the Big Ten.
The rest of the list consists of Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Oregon receiver Tez Johnson, Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, and Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.
TreVeyon Henderson was a First-Team All-Big Ten pick last year despite missing three games due to injury. He rushed for 926 yards in 10 games, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. No Big Ten player has rushed for more yards over the past three seasons than Henderson (2,745).
Emeka Egbuka dealt with injuries for much of the 2023 season but was a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2022. With a 2024 season of at least 78 receptions and 1,041 yards, he will become Ohio State’s all-time receptions and yardage leader.
JT Tuimoloau is a two-time First-Team All-Big Ten selection. Last year for the Buckeyes he posted 38 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks. That came after a 2022 season where he finished with 28 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks.
Caleb Downs transferred to Ohio State from Alabama where he was a Freshman All-American last year. He led the Crimson Tide with 107 tackles last year, becoming the first true freshman to ever do so for Alabama. He also posted 3.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.
The Big Ten Media Days kick off on Tuesday and go through Thursday.
