Cartersville (Ga.) defensive back Jordyn Woods has emerged over the past several weeks as a player to keep an eye on in the world of Ohio State recruiting. The Buckeyes and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton had taken a serious interest in Woods this fall and the Cincinnati commit recently took an unofficial visit to Columbus to check things out.
Woods left campus without an offer from the Buckeyes but that changed on Sunday evening after a call with Walton and defensive assistant Gerren DuHart as Ohio State has now officially entered the race.
“It was super exciting,” Woods told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “I talked to coach Walton and coach DuHart. They asked me what I liked about my visit and they told me they think I’m a perfect fit for the program.”
Now the Buckeyes will work on getting Woods up for an official visit and there could be some news on that front pretty soon.
“They told me they will give me info on getting back up there for an (official) visit tomorrow (Monday),” Woods confirmed.
Woods has been receiving a lot of Big Ten interest, most notably from the Buckeyes and Michigan State since pledging to the Bearcats over the summer. Now it is just a matter of being thorough about his process.
“It’s a process that I want to talk to my family about and weigh out everything and then make my final decision,” he added.
At 6-foot-4 and with experience playing on both offense and defense, Woods is an intriguing athlete that could excel just about anywhere in the defensive backfield at the next level.
