Big-Time Tight End Calls Ohio State offer ‘electric’

The class of 2027 is just starting to take shape nationally but Norwalk (IA) tight end Luke Brewer is already generating quite a buzz. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound prospect entered the week with offers from the likes of Georgia, Iowa, Miami (FL), Michigan, Penn State, and Tennessee. On Sunday night he added one from Ohio State.

“When you think of Ohio State, you think about them always being in the realm of a natty so the news (of an offer) was pretty electric,” Brewer told BuckeyeHudle.com. “I think one thing that sticks out from watching them is that they score. When you watch them, they put up 40 points a game and who wouldn’t want to be somewhere that puts the ball in the end zone and wins.”

It shouldn’t be long before Brewer is able to make it Columbus to see the Buckeyes in person. An unofficial visit is in the works.

“I plan to come up to either the Indiana game or the Michigan name,” he said.

You don’t get the offer list that Brewer has accumulated so early if you aren’t an impressive athlete, but the early four-star prospect prides himself on being an all-around player.

“I think I am a versatile tight end,” Brewer explained. “I am a key part of our run game blocking wise. I finish my blocks and get nasty in the trenches but then I also can put a move on a defender and make them miss in the pass game. I am always looking to increase my speed because I know at that level of ball you must be fast.”

Brewer tries to take things from different tight ends to implement into his game including an Ohio native who currently stars in the NFL as well as a player that Brewer gets an up close look at on a regular basis in the state of Iowa.

“Guys I look up to are guys like Travis Kelce and his ability to find space and break down a zone defense, and then Ben Brahmer from Iowa State. Being able to watch him play and get tips from him, he has grown on me and it is always fun to watch him play. He’s a big time player for sure.”

Brewer has just begun building a relationship with Ohio State tight ends coach Keenan Bailey, who offered him over the phone Sunday, and the upcoming visit will help turbocharge that process.
