Ohio State sophomore safety Caleb Downs and graduate senior center Seth McLaughlin have been named Walter Camp First-Team All-Americans, while freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith earned a Second-Team All-America nod.
Downs transferred from Alabama this year after earning Freshman All-American honors last season. He is currently third on the Buckeye defense with 62 tackles and tied for third with 6.5 tackles for loss. He has one interception on the season.
McLaughlin also transferred this year from Alabama. Along with his All-American nod, he was also a First-Team All-Big Ten selection as well.
With these first-team nods, both Downs and McLaughlin will have Buckeye trees planted in their honor in Ohio State’s Buckeye Grove.
Smith, the nation’s top 2024 recruit, has lived up to the expectations. He was named the Big Ten’s Receiver of the Year last week. On the season, he has 57 receptions and a team-high 934 yards and 10 touchdowns.
