Ryan Day again demonstrated his renewed commitment to reducing the Buckeyes’ tendencies by formation and protecting Ohio State’s base run plays. This began from the outset against Toledo by using dropback or mid-zone RPO outs or hitch routes (as below) to exploit a common tactic of Buckeye opponents—soft corner coverage to protect aggressive safety play against the run.
