Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick is reportedly entering the transfer portal.
The news was first reported by Chris Hummer of 247Sports.com.
Fitzpatrick has played in every game this season for the Buckeyes, seeing offense in nine of those games — including 11 total snaps in Ohio State’s two College Football Playoff games.
Fitzpatrick began the season as the backup right tackle and finished it as a backup guard. He apparently lost his backup spot at right tackle to true freshman Ian Moore.
Fitzpatrick came to Ohio State from Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colorado where he was a four-star prospect. He was ranked the No. 244 player in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 19 offensive tackle in the 2022 class overall.
With the Buckeyes losing starting tackles Josh Fryar and Josh Simmons after this season, there will be jobs up for grabs in 2025. To help that quest, Ohio State brought in a pair of tackles from the transfer portal.
Minnesota redshirt freshman Phillip Daniels started four games for the Gophers at right tackle this season. Rice left tackle Ethan Onianwa has one year of eligibility remaining and is a multiple starter. Both are considered front-runners to win jobs next season.
Ohio State backup left tackle Zen Michalski already announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal last month. He reportedly signed with his home-state Indiana Hoosiers on Friday. Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Miles Walker has also previously announced that he is transferring.
The Buckeyes signed three offensive linemen in the 2025 recruiting class.
