Buckeyes Offer Peach State Running Back

Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn is taking some big swings on the recruiting trail in the 2026 class and Monday evening brought a new offer to the fold in Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School star C.J. Givers.

Givers has seen his stock rise considerably this off-season and now the Buckeyes have entered the mix.

“Me and Coach Lock have been talking for a while now and we’ve built a good relationship,” Givers told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “He actually had my head coach call me and let me know that they offered me. To receive an offer from one of the best programs in the country is a surreal feeling.”

Locklyn stopped to see Givers during the open recruiting period in January and the two have been speaking on the phone in recent months. So far, Givers likes what he’s seen and heard from the Buckeye assistant.

“He seems like a great Christ centered man that wants to mentor his players,” Givers stated.

Ohio State utilized an impressive 1-2 punch at running back during its national championship run, a run that saw star backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins look perfectly fresh on the back end of a 16-game season.

“The way they use their backs is very effective,” Givers observed. “Neither back is taking too many carries, but at the same time, they are both getting a lot of touches. I think it is the best way to run an offense.”

The next step for Givers will be making a visit to Columbus. Ohio State is one of a handful of schools that he’ll be prioritizing this spring as he puts his visit schedule together.

“I plan to visit Ohio State sometime in March,” he said. “I also plan to visit N.C. State, Duke, and Ole Miss.”

Givers rushed for 1,403 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior after compiling 1,470 yards and 24 touchdowns as a sophomore.
