CHARLOTTE — One of the top emerging running backs in the 2027 recruiting class is Raleigh (NC) Rolesville product Amir Brown. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound prospect was on hand at the Charlotte Under Armour camp on Sunday and left with an invitation to the UA All-American Game.
“It’s amazing, surreal to get an invite to the All-American game,” Brown told BuckeyeHuddle.com after the camp. “Knowing all of the top dogs and players that have played in it.”
Brown has established himself as an early four-star prospect and a player of high interest for Ohio State and running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. He was recently on campus to check out the Buckeyes and to get a chance to meet with Locklyn in person.
“He’s a chill guy but he doesn’t like slackers,” Brown said of the Buckeye running backs coach. “He wants people to just work, work, work and that’s how I am.”
Ohio State had a dynamic duo at running back this past season which caught the attention of Brown, but he has a pretty good grasp of the history in Columbus at the position.
“If you look back before Judkins and Henderson, you see the production from the running backs there, it’s amazing,” he said. “They know what they’re doing with the running backs.”
Beyond just the running backs room, Brown liked the entire vibe he got from the players and coaches while on his visit.
“I like the brotherhood,” he continued. “I like the realness of the coaches and players. That means a lot. I just like how (the people at) Ohio State show love to each other. On the field, off the field, regardless of what they’re doing.”
