Ohio State tied a school-record with 14 players selected in the modern-day seven-round NFL Draft (2004). The overall record is 15 players.
After having four players selected in the first round and three more in the second round, seven total Buckeyes were drafted Saturday on the final day of the draft.
Linebacker Cody Simon was the first Buckeye off the board in the fourth round, going 115th overall to the Arizona Cardinals. Safety Lathan Ransom was selected 122nd overall by the Carolina Panthers. Defensive end Jack Sawyer went one pick later to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Defensive tackle Ty Hamilton was the 10th pick of the fifth round, going 148th overall to the Los Angeles Rams. Defensive back Jordan Hancock was selected 170th overall by the Buffalo Bills. Cornerback Denzel Burke went four picks later, drafted by his home-state team Arizona Cardinals.
Quarterback Will Howard, who is a Pennsylvania native, was selected with the ninth pick of the sixth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Center Seth McLaughlin went undrafted following a season where he won the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center despite suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon tear late in the regular season.
Fifth-year senior tight end Gee Scott, Jr. and fifth-year senior right tackle Josh Fryar also went unselected. All three players are expected to sign free agent deals in the coming days.
UPDATE: Seth McLaughlin has signed a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
UPDATE No. 2: Gee Scott, Jr. has signed a free agent deal with New England and Josh Fryar has signed a free agent deal with Arizona. Fryar reunites with former linemate Paris Johnson and offensive line coach Justin Frye.
