Buckeyes Set to Get Final Visit for Four-Star Offensive Tackle

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — First-year offensive line coach Tyler Bowen has been relentless on the recruiting trail since taking the job a few months ago. That persistence has led to the Buckeyes getting some big names scheduled for official visits in June.

Kernersville (NC) East Forsyth star J.B. Shabazz is one player the Buckeyes have seemingly made up ground with since Bowen’s arrival. Ohio State is scheduled to get the last official visit from the 6-foot-7, 295-pound prospect the weekend of June 20th.

“The environment and everything else is perfect,” Shabazz said of Ohio State. “I just want to make sure that I have a good relationship with coach Bowen, which I do, and also the other O-Line coaches. Also, get a chance to really talk to the players, the O-Linemen, and learn from them and what they’ve been doing.”

Shabazz took a spring unofficial visit to Columbus and liked how the Buckeyes ran their practice, especially in regards to the offensive line.

“I like the fact that they have like four different coaches,” Shabazz explained. “They had like two coaching the tackles and two coaching the guards and centers and they all get an equal amount of reps. So if they’re going into a scrimmage or a game, they’ll all be ready.”

Shabazz is also scheduled to make official visits to Auburn, North Carolina, and South Carolina, but hinted that there could be some movement on that front.
