One of the biggest fears that teams have going into the new season is training camp injuries and you can never predict them but when they happen, it is a big deal.
That is exactly what happened to Ohio State when it was learned that running back Evan Pryor would be lost for the 2022 season with a knee injury. It was first reported by Austin Ward of ‘The Podcast’ and later confirmed by BuckeyeHuddle.com.
Pryor was a four-star running back out of North Carolina before committing to the Buckeyes. The class of 2021 running back was used sparingly in his first season with the Buckeyes, just playing in four games. In that limited action he had 21 carries for 98 yards and scored a touchdown against Akron.
This certainly throws a wrench in Ohio State’s depth at running back. The Buckeyes top-two were always going to be TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams but Pryor was well on his way to seeing significant playing time as a third option for the Buckeyes.
This means that Ohio State will have to consider accelerating the progression of true freshman back Dallan Hayden or explore moving Xavier Johnson back from wide receiver to running back.
We will have more on this breaking news including more on the impact for the Ohio State running game here on BuckeyeHuddle.com.
