It took a little bit longer than expected, but New Jersey safety Jayden Bonsu has now signed his national letter of intent and sent it in to Ohio State.
Bonsu (6-1 210) has been committed to Ohio State since August, but created a stir when his letter of intent wasn’t set in during the day on Wednesday’s opening of the early signing period.
Alas, however, Bonsu is now a Buckeye and he gives OSU the No. 23 safety in the nation and the No. 270 prospect overall. He signed with Ohio State over offers from Miami, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Tennessee, USC, and others.
Bonsu was a big hitter for his St. Peter’s Prep team. He played all over in the back end, showcasing a versatility which will be put to good use in Columbus.
The Buckeyes now have a 2023 signing class of 20 players. They will look to add more by the end of the next signing period.
Bonsu’s commitment gives Ohio State three four-star safeties in the class. He joins Ohio prospect Malik Hartford and Florida prospect Cedrick Hawkins. The Buckeyes also signed two four-star cornerbacks in the class in Ohio’s Jermaine Mathews and Texas’ Calvin Simpson-Hunt.
Here is a look at what the Buckeyes are getting in Jayden Bonsu.
