Jake Seibert Off To The Portal

The Buckeyes are saying goodbye to kicker/defensive back Jake Seibert as the Cincinnati LaSalle product has entered the transfer portal after three years with the Buckeyes.

Seibert entered the Ohio State program as a member of the class of 2020 and was the No. 2 rated kicker in the nation according to one of the national services. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder saw his first action at his recruited position and saw action immediately as a true freshman playing in three games including Rutgers, Indiana and the national championship game against Alabama where he would kick a 23-yeard field goal in Ohio State’s loss to the Crimson Tide.

2021 would see Seibert get replaced by Noah Ruggles and 2022 would see Seibert make the move from kicker to cornerback as a depth player with Ohio State being so thin at the position with only six available corners for much of the season.

With the path back to the kicking duties unlikely with the addition of Parker Lewis and already having Jayden Fielding on the roster and the path to the field unlikely at corner, Seibert made the decision to look elsewhere and exit the Ohio State program after three seasons.

Seibert will have three years to play three seasons at his next stop with the a redshirt season (2022) and a COVID year (2020) already in use.
