Omari Abor’s run with the Buckeyes has been a short one as the Duncanville (Texas) defensive lineman reportedly intends to enter the transfer portal after just two seasons with Ohio State.
The 6-foot-3, 249-pounder was a four-star recruit and national top-100 player when he picked the Buckeyes over a deep list of top programs for the class of 2022. It was considered a big get for the Buckeyes in landing such a big player out of a national powerhouse high school.
Abor would see action in just one game as a true freshman, and then just six games this past season as a redshirt freshman. Abor posted two tackles and one tackle for loss this season. He did not record a statistic as a true freshman.
Abor was part of a deep class of 2022 for the Buckeyes on the defensive line that included Caden Curry, Kenyatta Jackson and Hero Kanu.
There was a tremendous amount of upside in Abor’s game but there were also concerns that Abor wanted to get back closer to home to play college football after getting to Ohio State. That will remain speculation at this point, but it will be interesting to see if a Texas or Oklahoma School will be able to bring Abor back closer to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex or not.
