COLUMBUS — Ohio State running back Miyan Williams has announced his intentions to return to school for his fourth year and put the NFL on hold for at least one more season.
Williams is a redshirt sophomore who has two years of eligibility remaining. He led the Buckeyes in rushing this year with 825 yards on 128 carries. Williams scored 14 touchdowns.
The 2022 season was a tale of injuries for Williams, who injured a knee and a hand and then also dealt with illness leading up to the Peach Bowl against Georgia. He missed two games, but wasn’t fully healthy in several others. Williams carried the ball just 26 times over the Buckeyes’ final four games.
For the season, he had four 100-yard rushing days, including a career-high 189 yards on 21 carries against Rutgers. He tied a school-record with five rushing touchdowns in that game.
In his career at Ohio State so far, Williams has rushed for 1,396 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He has six 100-yard rushing days in his career, but has carried the ball more than 20 times just twice in his career.
Williams projected to a day three pick, which would have landed him somewhere in rounds 4-7.
The 2023 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 27.
