Super 2025 Athlete Grew Up As Big Buckeyes Fan

CINCINNATI – As we have been telling you here at BuckeyeHuddle, the future is bright in the state of Ohio with a lot of young talent starting to make some real noise. That certainly is the case with Cincinnati Anderson high school athlete Caden Piening.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder already holds seven offers including ones from Kentucky and Indiana and is the type of player that you just go and get and then figure out where he fits within your system and which side of the ball may make the most sense.

Ohio State has not offered Piening as of yet but that does not mean that the Buckeyes are unaware of what is in their backyard as the talented athlete made his way to three Ohio State games last season including ones against Wisconsin and Iowa.

As with many in-state players, Ohio State is the dream school not only for the player but the family as well and that is certainly the case here.

“My family are huge Ohio State fans, like the whole family, so that is what is mainly on the TV on Saturday,” Piening said.

Piening is ahead of many players already with his seven offers and while an Ohio State offer would be hard to pass up, the talented player also realizes that if the Buckeyes move in, other schools will take notice and his offer total could multiply by quite a bit.

“Ohio State’s been my dream school since I’ve been younger,” Piening said. “I definitely think it is one of my dreams to get an offer from Ohio State. I would be very excited. I feel like if I get that offer then a lot of other schools would be like, ‘Oh we should start looking at this kid’”.

Last season’s visits to Ohio State certainly did not do anything to dissuade the Anderson high school star either as the Buckeyes always put on a good show at every home game.

“The atmosphere is pretty crazy, especially with the seating,” Piening said. “I think it was a hundred thousand in the stadium and just especially the night game with the blackout, it was, it was pretty crazy with all the fans.”

The Buckeyes have been looking at Piening potentially as a tight end and that means there has been a change when it comes to recruiting point person. Kevin Wilson has moved on to Tulsa to take over the head coaching duties, meaning that Keenan Bailey is now taking charge here. Conversations have started but it is still kind of early, but contact has been made.

Piening has been able to do more of his own research on how the Buckeyes operate with visiting a practice last season and seeing more than just the Saturday product.

“I really like their worth ethic,” Piening said. “Especially when I went to one of their practices after our seven on seven and it was very fast tempo and they always doing everything super-fast.”
