WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Ohio State is taking some big swings in this class along the defensive line and one player that they are working hard to gain traction with is Warner Robins (Ga.) defensive end Isaiah Gibson.
The USC pledge has received a lot of attention from Ohio State going back to the winter.
“My contact with Ohio State started around basketball season,” Gibson recalled. “Coach Johnson came to one of my basketball games and I actually had a pretty good game and then I got an offer after the game.”
Johnson’s pedigree is one thing that has Gibson curious about learning more about the Ohio State program.
“He’s produced, in my opinion, some of the best defensive lineman that came out of college football,” Gibson said. “That plays a big part in (his interest in Ohio State), for sure.”
Gibson is already sold on the winning tradition of the Ohio State program, but his upcoming June official visit will be his first time in Columbus. He’ll need to get a feel for how things are off the field.
“The 18th of June through the 20th,” Gibson stated on when he’ll make his official visit. “Mostly life outside of football (is going to be important on the visit), how the players are doing, how they look at Ohio State and just how the feel is at Ohio State.”

Gibson has not only built a football connection with Johnson and assistant D-Line coach LaAllan Clark, but also a spiritual one.
“They send me a lot of scriptures and I read every scripture they send me,” Gibson explained. “I feel like that’s the type of culture that I want to be around. I’m a big believer in God.”
