Ohio State linebackers coach James Laurinaitis has already identified a few class of 2027 prospects that intrigue him and one of those is Raleigh (NC) Millbrook standout Quinton Cypher.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect picked up an offer from the Buckeyes last August. He then made an unofficial visit during the season for the win over Nebraska.
“The visuals immediately stood out to me,” Cypher told BuckeyeHuddle.com this week during our Southern Swing recruiting tour. “You walk in there, and it’s massive. The Shoe is huge. First impression was really good.”
Cypher and Laurinaitis have started to build a relationship and the four-star prospect is hoping to get a chance to work with the Buckeye legend in June.
“I’ve asked him questions about, not necessarily my game, but just being a linebacker in general,” Cypher explained. “We’ve talked about stuff that I need to work on to get better and me getting down there this summer, I’m definitely trying to get down there again this summer to visit.”
When it comes to evaluating schools, Cypher knows exactly what he wants to see.
“So for me, there’s like a (checklist) of things that I need to check off before I would commit there,” he explained. “I want to go to a camp and be evaluated and coached personally. I want to be able to attend a game and see their game atmosphere. And I want to see what their practices are like. So far I’ve only knocked off one of those things for Ohio State but I definitely want to get up there and get coached by them (this summer).”
