Ohio State hosted several priority Midwest recruiting targets on Saturday for its first major recruiting day of the winter. One of the biggest names coming into the day was class of 2026 Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius offensive lineman Will Conroy.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound guard/center prospect is one of Ohio’s top prospects, regardless of class, and he was rewarded with an offer from the Buckeyes during his visit on Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State has been recruiting Conroy for several months now, but getting the validation in the form of an offer was still a big deal for the Northeast Ohio star.
“It’s like a breath of fresh air,” Conroy told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “It means a lot growing up in Ohio. It’s like a dream come true, for sure.”
Both head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Justin Frye spent plenty of time with Conroy on his visit.
“The relationships there are good,” Conroy stated. “Coach Day talked about how much the Team Up North rivalry means in Ohio. With coach Frye, we talked about what it means to be an Ohio State lineman.”
Conroy can play anywhere along the line at the high school level but projects to be an interior prospect in college. He plays the game with a mean streak and that is likely part of the reason why the Buckeyes have gravitated toward him so early in the process.
“They’ve been recruiting me for a while, but I think they like my finish and my bend,” he added.
Conroy is in the middle of his winter wrestling season and the Buckeyes were fortunate to be able to get him on campus this weekend as most of his weekends the rest of the season will be dedicated to the mat.
Conroy will be making a West Coast trip during his spring break, however, as he plans to see Arizona, Arizona State, and Oregon during that time.
Conroy comes in at No. 6 in the early BuckeyeHuddle.com Class of 2026 Ohio rankings in what looks to be a loaded year in the Buckeye State.
