Following Ohio State football practice on Wednesday, freshman wide receiver Kojo Antwi had his black stripe removed.
All newcomers into the OSU football program have a black stripe placed down the middle of their helmets when they arrive. The removal of the stripe indicates that a player has done enough in practice to warrant being a full-fledged Buckeye.
Kojo Antwi is now the 10th member of the 2022 recruiting class and the 15th player overall to have his black stripe removed this year.
Antwi was a 4-star recruit out of Lambert High School in Suwanee, Georgia and signed with the Buckeyes over offers from Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Alabama, and many more. He was ranked the No. 26 receiver in the class and the No. 151 player overall in the 247Sports Composite.
As a senior, Antwi posted nearly 600 yards of total offense, including over 200 yards rushing. He caught 121 career passes for 1,839 yards in high school, scoring 20 touchdowns.
Antwi was not an early enrollee for the Buckeyes, choosing instead to join the team in the summer. He has not yet seen game action this season.
True freshman walk-on TC Caffey also lost his black stripe on Wednesday, becoming the second freshman running back to do so. He joins Dallan Hayden, who lost his stripe on August 20.
Caffey rushed for 2,638 yards last year as a senior at Hubbard High School where he was a First-Team All-State selection.
Caffey was the only only true freshman walk-on to lose his black stripe on Wednesday, however, as quarterback Mason Maggs also had his stripe removed.
Maggs is the son of former OSU Bob Maggs, who started at center in 1985 and 1986. Maggs attended Dublin Coffman and threw for 1,786 yards as a senior. He added 861 yards on the ground as well, totaling 30 touchdowns overall.
