USC sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams won the 2022 Heisman Trophy. The award was announced Saturday night. Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud finished third.
Williams nearly tripled the first-place votes of TCU quarterback Max Duggan, who finished second. Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett finished fourth.
Stroud received the most third-place votes (190) of the 875 voters, and third-most first-place (37) and second-place (119) votes.
CJ Stroud leads the nation in pass efficiency (176.25), four spots ahead of Caleb Williams (167.94), eight spots ahead of Max Duggan (165.48), and 22 spots ahead of Stetson Bennett (154.61).
Bennett leads the nation in pass efficiency against ranked opponents (185.21).
Stroud and Williams are tied for the nation’s lead in touchdown passes with 37.
For the year, Stroud has completed 235-of-355 passes (66.2%) for 3,340 yards with 37 touchdown and just six interceptions.
One hundred voters left Caleb Williams off of their ballots entirely.
This is the second year in a row that Stroud was a Heisman finalist. Last year he finished fourth.
