COLUMBUS – Bo knows the Buckeyes.
In case you missed it, Cleveland VASJ running back Bo Jackson committed to the Buckeyes earlier this month, and you might think that he would be happy showing up to Ohio State and just checking things out now, but if you think that, you don’t know Bo.
He took part in Ohio State’s Monday camp, a sweltering day at the WHAC and was put through the paces by new running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.
“I’ve got a real good relationship with Coach Lock,” Jackson said after the camp. “His intensity. He’s real intense.”
Jackson is calling Ohio State ‘down the street’ but it is close to two hours away, but even with that, it is the hometown school, and we should expect to see Jackson on campus more and more as the Buckeyes get into their 2024 season.
Monday marked the final camp of the season for the Buckeyes and Jackson wanted to have that chance to get coached up by his new position coach.
“I just wanted to get some work done with Coach Lock,” Jackson added.
The Ohio State running backs room is going to look different in 2025 than it will in 2024. Expectations are that TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins will move on after this season and that will leave a couple of young guys in James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon to join whoever Ohio State signs.
At this point the Buckeyes have commits from Jackson and Isiah West.
With Jordon Davison still out there, Ohio State could be looking at a three-back class. But time will tell and for now the expectations internally may be on a two-back class.
“They’ve communicated two-backs, but if anything happens, anything happens,” Jackson said.
And if there is a third back in the class?
“I’m not worried about that,” Jackson said. “I’m here. I’m staying.”
