Ohio State freshman defensive end Omari Abor is the latest Buckeye to have his black stripe removed.
The removal of the black stripe from an Ohio State helmet is emblematic that the player has done enough to earn his (scarlet and gray) stripes as a Buckeye.
Abor is now the 14th member of the 2022 recruiting class to lose his black stripe. He is also the final member of OSU’s four-man defensive line class to have his stripe removed.
The first was defensive end Caden Curry, who lost his stripe back in the spring. Then came defensive end Kenyatta Jackson, who lost his stripe in fall camp. Defensive tackle Hero Kanu lost his stripe on September 21. Abor now completes the sweep.
A Top 100 signee out of Duncanville, Texas, Abor has seen action in just one game this year, playing a handful of snaps in the week two win over Arkansas State. He has dealt with an undisclosed injury for much of the seaon.
Seven freshmen are still waiting to have their black stripes removed.
The Buckeyes are in bowl practice mode right now, so expect a few more black stripes to be lost this month.
